Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How young can students start learning the piano?

School age is recommended (5 years old), but it depends on the child and their learning capacity. Feel free to contact Rebecca to discuss your child’s individual learning needs.

  2. Do I need to have a piano at home?

No you don’t need a piano. However, you will need a basic keyboard with at least 61 keys to practice on. As you progress, it is important to have an instrument with weighted keys.

  3. Do I need to buy music books?

Yes. Rebecca prefers the Alfred’s Basic Piano Library Lesson, AMEB Comprehensive Repertoire, and AMEB Piano for Leisurebooks. She also recommends the How to Blitz Musicianship theory books.
During your first lesson, she will discuss with you the books that you will need to purchase.

  4. What do I need to bring to my lessons?

    • Your lesson book

    • A display folder

  5. Can I learn piano as an adult?

    • Definitely! You are never to old to start learning piano.

  6. Can I change my lesson time?

Lessons are held at the same time each week.

If you need to change your lesson time, please contact Rebecca as soon as possible to arrange an alternative time.

  7. How do I book my lesson time for next term?

Lesson fees are paid in advance, and are billed by the term. Fees for the upcoming term are due two weeks before the end of the current term - this is the re-enrolment date (as printed on your invoice).

Invoices will be emailed to you via Square (usually in week 7 of term) so please check your spam/junk folders.

Your lesson time is booked once the invoice has been paid in full.

If payment is not received by the re-enrolment date, your lesson time may be forfeited.

If you experience any difficulty meeting the re-enrolment deadline, please contact Rebecca to discuss arrangements.

If you do not wish to continue with lessons, please notify Rebecca by the re-enrolment date.

  8. How do I pay fees?

    For current students:

An invoice will be emailed to you in week 7 of the current term. Fees can be paid using the following methods:

    a) Direct deposit: Account details are listed on the invoice. There is no fee for this service.

    b) Online: Pay online by following the prompts in the invoice email. There is a 2.2% service fee for this payment method.

Your booking will not be confirmed until the deposit has been received. The balance of the invoice must be paid in full before the first lesson.

  1. What is the booking cancellation policy?

Cancellation prior to the first lesson: If a term booking is cancelled within 5 days of the first scheduled lesson, the cost of the first lesson will be withheld. The remaining balance of fees paid will be refunded.
